⤷ Tapbots Releases Tweetbot 6 ●

Tapbots has long made the highest quality apps on the iOS and macOS App Stores. For that reason alone, I’m willing to subscribe to Tweetbot 6 for at least a year. I do admit though, the very minor adjustments have left with a slight bit of trepidation. I’m hoping we can see some further refinement over the next 12 months thanks to the improved cash flows.

⤷ Canada Should Allow Joint Tax Filing for Spouses ●

Chalk this up as a “duh”, though I had no idea so many other countries already implemented this idea. In Canada, the base tax unit is the individual. This divides households and penalizes families. Which makes sense, of course — the government needs every dollar it can get.

⤷ Apple's New Map is Expanded to Canada ●

First, I love Justin O’Beirne’s ultra-simple website design. This is clearly someone who sweats the details, specifically when it comes to maps. Second, Apple may have overcome Google when it comes to map quality. Three-dimensional maps have made their way to our small rural area and it’s super accurate. And Apple’s “Street View” (known as “Look Around”, I suppose) is easy to use and unbelievably smooth. This Maps expansion has exceeded all expectations.

⤷ Naval's "How to Get Rich" Twitter Thread ●

There are a lot of interesting quips in this Twitter thread. I agree with loads of these.

⤷ The Pandemic Changed My Mind About Peloton ●

We ordered our Peloton at the end of October to early November 2020, knowing full well it would be a good 10 weeks before delivery. Of course, 10 weeks have come and gone, and today, after waiting a week for Peloton’s customer service department to email me back, they tell me it’s going to be another 6 weeks of waiting. That Peloton bike better be impressive — this is utterly ridiculous already.

⤷ What I Include in My Personal Net Worth ●

This week is Part 2 of my oddly-named “How to Budget 2021” mini-series over on the Toonie Newsletter. In short, including your assets and your liabilities on your personal net worth statement will quickly provide you a starting point and a finish line for your budget. As always, if you like what you read, feel free to subscribe so you don’t have to get the link from The Newsprint each week.

⤷ The Sun Blasted Earth With the Biggest Storm in 10,000 Years in 774 AD ●

Fascinating story. As if we didn’t have enough to worry about with Mother Nature here on Earth.

⤷ The Two Pieces of My Annual Financial Plan ●

Though I took a three-week hiatus, I continue to work hard to provide some useful financial advice over at my weekly Toonie Newsletter. Naturally, I highly recommend you read last week’s newsletter before this week drops into inboxes this coming Friday morning. Last week, I discussed how a budget and a personal net worth statement work a lot better when used in tandem. And this week, I am writing about what to include and not to include in that personal net worth statement.

⤷ American Politics Gets Everywhere ●

This quick post from Greg Morris struck a chord with me. I find the entire discourse State-side to be so off-putting — not specifically when it comes from Americans, but rather when it comes from non-Americans looking down their noses. We all have our own problems in our own countries. Let’s take the log out of our own eyes before we attempt to lecture anyone else on the log in theirs.

⤷ Musk Tells You to Use Signal ●

If you followed Dave Portnoy at all in the past, this story about investors putting their money into the wrong stock won’t be all that surprising. Nonetheless, Musk’s recommendation is a good one — a friend of mine recommended Signal and it seems pretty good to my eye.
