I love Kottke’s article category that helps you cruise back what feels like a millennia to a day and age that is only read about in history books. The Civil War Era pension article: fascinating! One of my particular favourites are the fact that President Tyler’s grandsons are still alive today. Tyler was president in 1841. The Great Span indeed.

The 50mm f/1.8 and 85mm f/2 are just what the doctor ordered. I’m going to have some difficult decisions to make between these and the 24-70mm f/2.8 L zoom. Also, what’s with those f/11 super telephotos? Crazy stuff.

If you want, you can click through to the actual article, but I personally think Marius’s mushroom comments are equally (probably more) worth your time. There’s a part of me that wants to giggle about how much Marius knows about mushrooms, but then I remember: It’s Marius. He knows everything about the natural world.
