Some simple back-of-the-envelope math this afternoon had me concluding that spending $1 now decreases my future retirement accounts by $9. That’s at 8% annual return over 40 years. I can only imagine the cost if you are shooting for 15% or more in annual returns. This is one way to look at opportunity costs. I really like Greg’s comments here. There was a time and place perhaps where blogs could write about one particular thing and maybe have business potential. I’m unsure how prevalent that would be now. Instead, it’s simply easier to write about stuff you care about, no matter how knowledgeable you are about the topic. For me, that runs the gamut from photography, tech, and Star Wars and will even touch on fashion at some point in time. I love me a nice pair of loafers.
