Although slightly expensive for arbitrary, non-professional designers, Logo is bar-none the simplest logo design program I have ever used.

As a Squarespace customer, three versions of the logo can be downloaded for free.

And, although overly simple, look at what I've come up with.

UPDATE

I understand that Logo may uproot some of the work that actual designers do for small businesses on a day-to-day basis. If Squarespace can offer simple design programs for cheap, then designers who charge exorbitant amounts of money for the same simple design are overpriced and don't deserve the bottom end of the logo-design market.

This may become a trend. What an incredibly well designed app.
