⤷ Craft, A New Note-Taking App ●

Chalk this up as another one of those apps that’s so beautiful and so well-designed that you want to make up an entirely inefficient workflow just to use it. In my case, I don’t see how I can use it. But I want to. Oh boy, this is a wonderful looking app.

⤷ How RESPs Are the Best Investment Tool When You Have Kids ●

A close friend asked me to write about RESPs in Toonie sometime, so naturally, it was the very next issue of the newsletter. I always knew RESPs were phenomenal investment vehicles, but my research deep-dive led me to believe even more in how essential they are for any young family. In short, if you have kids, open an RESP. Now. And put it into Wealthsimple.

⤷ The ZSA Moonlander Mark I ●

I’ve searched for a mechanical keyboard with great switches, a number pad, and reasonable aesthetics. I hadn’t found one until I discovered the Moonlander. It may not have a number pad, but using those thumb clusters to jump into a number pad layer seems easier than reaching to the right to type out some numerals in Excel.

⤷ Apple’s M1 Macs Get Benchmarked ●

These benchmarks are insane. The M1 MacBook Air is faster than every other Mac in single core scores and beats many of the highest-end Core i9 Macs in multi-core scores. Goodness gracious. I’ll never need anything other than a baseline Mac ever again.

⤷ Stripe is the Internet's Most Undervalued Company ●

Long article, but crazy good article about Stripe, the payments processing (et al.) business. Clearly, if this company files for an IPO, it’s going to turn a lot of investor heads. Especially if they’re profitable already — so few other tech IPOs are profitable out of the gate these days.

⤷ Three Questions That Will Decide the Dodgers-Braves NLCS ●

Skip to the third question and check out those incredible stats.

Side note: Sports Illustrated’s MLB writing (and specifically Tom Verducci’s) is just unreal right now.

⤷ Canon’s Potential Lens Roadmap for 2021 ●

If this roadmap is indeed close to actual plans, it’s going to be an expensive 2021 for me. The 70-200mm f/2.8 is at the top of my list, but you will quickly find a 24mm f/1.8, 35mm f/1.2, and 135mm f/1.4 following thereafter. This potential roadmap looks enticing.

⤷ The Monetization Of Digital Assets Within Sports ●

This Huddle Up newsletter is just fantastic. I think it’s fascinating to see what hundreds of sports executives think are the industry’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. eSports for the win!

⤷ Instagram's Birthday and a Huge App Update ●

Don’t let the headline fool you, though this is huge nonetheless: You can now change the Instagram app icon back to the very best 2011 icon ever. Go to Settings and drag the window down from the top. I hope this is a permanent new feature.

⤷ Why (and How) I Plan to Die With an Empty Bank Account ●

I’ll likely have more about this in the next issue of the Toonie Newsletter on Friday, but this kind of article sickens me. Consume, consume, consume. There’s something about the “I’m all that counts” attitude in this article that I can’t stand behind.
