⤷ Building Monocle, A Universal Personal Search Engine for Life ●

In many ways, this reminds me of what so many of my colleagues are trying to do with Obsidian, Roam Research, Notion, and other PKM apps. It takes some serious patience to pull this off (hence why it’s probably not for me anymore), but your own personal search engine indeed seems so “21st Century-ish”.

⤷ Your Lawn Isn’t Just a Patch of Grass. It’s a Window Into Your Soul. ●

If it weren’t for the drought this year, my grass would be immaculate. It’s always immaculate. And it tears at me that I can’t make it perfect.

⤷ Ryan Serhant’s Brooklyn Townhouse ●

On quite short notice, our small family is moving to a new home in a few weeks. And so all these amazing home tours sit at the top of my Youtube list. Serhant is of former Million Dollar Listing glory and his years of success have culminated in a home far beyond my wildest dreams. Also of note: vein matching. Learn something new every day.

⤷ Restoring an Old TISSOT 1853 Watch ●

I generally watch some sort of ASMR video before bed each night. Something about them just calm the nerves and put me right to sleep. This TISSOT restoration video has been on the playlist recently. So good.

⤷ The Art of the Desk Setup ●

I love the thoughtful deep dive into every single item on this desk. In a way, it’s inspiring. I like his approach to purchasing used items — same quality, less cost. Hope I can adopt this practice a bit more.

⤷ What Would It Take To Leave the Monarchy? ●

Awesome Q&A with great information, right up to the very end. Canada would drown our courts with needless changes for a century if we were to leave the monarchy. Every single provincial or federal lease agreement is made with a group and Her Majesty the Queen. Imagine having to change every single leasing contract in the country because of a shortsighted change? And that’s just leases.

⤷ Microsoft Puts PCs in the Cloud with Windows 365 ●

I went down the path of testing Amazon’s virtual machine option a few months back and the affordable RAM and storage tiers didn’t meet my needs (Intuit’s ProFile tax software is a RAM hog). However, if I could somehow eliminate ProFile from my workflow, one of these new Windows 365 PCs in the cloud would likely do the trick for 99% of the work we do in the office.

⤷ Carrot Weather’s Apple Design Award Unboxing Video ●

This could not be more on brand.

⤷ Changing Decisions ●

In some circles, strength is defined as finding your lane, entrenching yourself, and sticking it out no matter what’s thrown at you. I think, in reality, strength is actually patience combined with the ability to assess something with a range of variables and to take your position based on the evidence at hand. And! To change your position if new evidence arises. Therefore, the people I enjoy learning from are those who don’t seem to take a specific lane all the time.

⤷ Peloton: How the Bike Company Has Become a Global Content Brand ●

This one from The Hollywood Reporter is fantastic. Peloton is far more than a bike. It’s a fashion. It’s a media. It’s a lifestyle. You can’t grasp this until you have a Bike in your house and you’ve ridden for a few weeks.
