Happy Sunday everyone! This is going to be a short one — this is the last weekend before the dreaded (celebrated?) April 30th tax deadline, so my attention span is running only as long as this incredible beer lasts me (I'm on a continued hazy IPA kick these days, with this one being the Kilter Juicii from one of the best brewers in Winnipeg, Manitoba.)

Of all the GFX100RF features I became intrigued with, the most fun feature was one I could try out on all my current photos: the ultra-wide 17 x 6 aspect ratio. Below are a few of my recent favourites edited with the 17 x 6 aspect ratio. I'm actually half impressed! There's something about this aspect ratio that brings out a fun new element to a photo.

Plotter

I was talking to a good friend this week about Plotter, the exquisite ring-binder notebook system that continues to capture the dreams of aesthetic analoggers around the world. The system is incredibly well made. The leather is thick, durable, and oh so pristine. The paper works great with fountain pens (though oddly rollerballs do not work that well with this paper). And there are a number of cool accessories to build out a productive (or beautiful) setup.

It’s super expensive though. Like, so expensive. The A6 Liscio leather binder is $255 USD. For just the leather cover.

I’m not here to recommend Plotter on a value basis. I don’t know if it can ever provide great value given the price tag.

But I do find a great deal of joy when pulling out my Plotter to jot down some notes. It’s delicate. It’s precise and measured — you can only keep a minor number of sheets inside before it fills up and can’t be closed. It’s modular, but it’s opinionated.

I still like Plotter and it’s my only notebook after multiple years of use.

The Second Cup

2024 NBP International Awards Winners

The photography in this set of winners is absolutely stunning. How someone picks a winner out of this group is beyond me.

The Highest-Paid Athletes of All-Time

I’m not going to give away the highest-paid athlete of all-time. I expect he’ll be surprising to most people. But once you read why, you’ll have that “Well duh!” moment.

I imagine some folks will get angry at the amount of money these guys make.

These athletes are absolutely freaks of nature, and their professions are not something anyone can learn how to do from scratch. Human beings are not created equal. This is a fact of life.

What, Exactly, Is a Reader's Bible?

My reader’s Bible sits beside my bed on my nightstand — I find (at least so far) that this is the time of the day where I just want to read and not study. If I study, my mind races, and it takes longer to sleep. So:

  • Study Bible on my desk
  • Thinline Bible for taking to church
  • Reader’s Bible beside my bed.

I am sure I can find more use cases yet that can justify another purchase, right?

Sublime

This looks like a MyMind competitor. After this dreaded tax season is over, I might have to give it a try.

Happy Sunday. I hope you have an excellent week ahead.
