It’s a rare day that I dislike a product from Twelve South.

The new Journal for iPhone is an unlikely misstep from Twelve South. The leather is luxurious and smells wonderful, but the Journal’s beauty doesn’t make up for how hard it is to use. Just look at the photo above.

It’s all fine, though. Twelve South’s BookBook for iPhone 7 Plus more than makes up for the misstep. The latest BookBook does everything last year’s BookBook does, but succeeds in tying up a few loose ends: the hard plastic case is more protective and the redesigned book spine adds some flare to the package.
